Do not consume raw cacao

Published: Thu, 04/05/12

I am one of the few raw foodists who
believe and teach that raw cacao seeds are
toxic and should be avoided.

At least if you are deceived into believing
it is not toxic, then consume cacao only as a snack
and not as a "superfood."

I have many videos on my site about why
I don't believe it is healthy at all to consume cacao.

I'll briefly explain now that the cacao fruit itself
is wonderful and contains many vital nutrients.
Animals in nature actually consume the fruit
and then spit out the toxic seeds. Sadly, the seeds
don't go to waste (as they should). Then man comes
to market the seeds as a "superfood" and we
know the story from there.

If you really want to enjoy something healthy
with a chocolate flavor, try carob pods.

Carob pods are delicious by themselves compared to
cacao seeds (Yuk!) and if mixed with the same
raw sweeteners they are just as delicious and
versatile as cacao.

Another fun fruit that is healthy and tastes great
that you may have never heard of is the black
sapote, also known as chocolate pudding fruit.

In this video, my daughter Noa and I enjoy
some freshly picked black sapotes from a friend's
yard.
